In a tweet that has sparked significant interest and controversy in the UFO community, former Pentagon official Luis Elizondo claimed that senior members of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) considered prosecuting former intelligence official and UFO whistleblower David Grusch for his public disclosures about government UFO activities. Elizondo stated he learned this information some time ago and referred to an article published by The Hill for further details. The article outlines bipartisan legislative support for investigating UFOs and discusses the government’s historical approach to UFO retrieval and reverse-engineering programs.
The Allegations:
Elizondo’s tweet urged followers to read the article carefully, stating that it “succinctly illustrates the distrust of AARO’s former leadership.” He criticized “senior elements in AARO” for allegedly attempting to prosecute Grusch for speaking publicly and questioned which laws they intended to use against him. He noted that this distrust might have influenced Grusch’s decision to avoid engaging with AARO, adding that such actions could lead to a lack of trust between government entities and whistleblowers.
AARO’s Credibility in Question:
Former AARO Director Sean Kirkpatrick, who retired at the end of 2023, consistently denied the existence of illicit UFO programs, saying in media appearances that most unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) reports can be attributed to natural or human-made sources. However, Elizondo’s tweet and The Hill article suggest that several whistleblowers, including Grusch, have avoided engaging with AARO due to a lack of trust. There is speculation that this reluctance may stem from a perception that the office is biased and that whistleblowers fear potential prosecution. This mistrust is exacerbated by Kirkpatrick’s definitive denials and lack of transparency.
When Congressman Tim Burchett was asked by the hill why he suspected a “cover-up,” Burchett says “It might be the fact that it’s just plain arrogance — they don’t think we deserve it, I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had with high-ranking officials that have told me that America really can’t handle this stuff. It’s not their position to tell me who or what I can handle; we’re Americans, we ought to be able to take it. Give it to us,”.
In a developing situation, Kirkpatrick made inconsistent statements in an interview with Steven Grenstreet about a meeting Sean had with Brandon Fugal, owner of Skinwalker Ranch. Fugal responded with his receipts , telling all on X “I am telling the truth”.
Calls for Professionalism and Civility:
The UFO/UAP community needs to uphold civility, treating whistleblowers with professionalism by addressing their statements rather than resorting to personal attacks. We must continue to monitor new developments as the narrative surrounding this phenomenon unfolds in unexpected ways, remaining open-minded and objective in our pursuit of truth.
A hallmark of an open mind is being more dedicated to curiosity than convictions. As Adam Grant says, the goal of learning is to revise old beliefs to accommodate new facts, not to shield existing beliefs.
