AARO’s transparency portal now includes DOW-UAP-PR49, a 109-second infrared recording submitted by the Department of the Army in 2026. The sensor pans to two areas of contrast, changes field of view, and cycles contrast settings while keeping the targets near the center. That is what the public record establishes.

The same official description says the reporter supplied no oral or written account. No location, date beyond the year, platform, range, bearing, altitude, weather, or target motion is included. AARO labels the report unresolved, but explicitly warns that its descriptive timeline is not an analytical judgment about validity, nature, or significance.

What the video can support

The sequence is useful as a record of sensor behavior. Analysts can study when the field of view changes, whether the two contrasts move together, and whether apparent size changes coincide with zoom or contrast cycling. The clip does not independently establish range or velocity. Without those quantities, dramatic apparent motion can be produced by the platform, the sensor, distant aircraft, weather, or parallax.

The missing evidence package

  • Exact time, location, platform position, heading, and sensor model
  • Full-resolution source file with metadata and an unbroken lead-in and tail
  • Operator observations and the reason tracking began
  • Slant range, line-of-sight rates, and field-of-view values
  • Air traffic, military activity, weather, and celestial checks

Those gaps are not proof of concealment. They are the reason the case remains analytically weak in public. “Unresolved” means the available information did not support a definitive identification; it does not mean the object displayed extraordinary performance.

Assessment

High confidence in the provenance of the released clip; low confidence in any identification. PR49 is a legitimate government record and a poor basis for claims about origin. The most productive next step is a release of the supporting mission and sensor data, with operational details redacted only where necessary.
