AARO's fifth public file release includes six contemporaneous clips numbered DOW-UAP-PR117 through PR122. The reporting context says a U.S. Special Operations Forces AC-130J gunship recorded areas of infrared contrast described in an accompanying intelligence report as cold orbs approximately four feet in diameter.

The strongest fact is also the main limitation

The public files are not exports from the aircraft's native electro-optical or infrared system. A cellular device recorded the sensor display. That extra optical layer can introduce moiré, flicker, blur, reflections, rolling-shutter effects, compression and uncertainty about the display palette. A bright or dark spot in the posted clip therefore cannot be treated as a calibrated temperature measurement.

The six clips matter because they were captured contemporaneously and preserve an official report pathway. Multiple clips can help analysts compare persistence, relative position and operator behavior. They still do not substitute for original sensor frames, platform telemetry or range.

What the public record establishes

  • The records were submitted by U.S. Central Command and published through the government's rolling UAP release.
  • The source platform is described as an AC-130J gunship and the public footage as a secondary cellular recording.
  • An accompanying report used the phrase cold orbs and estimated a diameter of about four feet.

What investigators still need

A defensible physical assessment would require native video with metadata, display-mode documentation, aircraft position and attitude, sensor line of sight, range or a justified range estimate, time synchronization and weather. Those inputs would allow analysts to separate target motion from aircraft motion and gimbal steering, then test aircraft, balloons, drones, birds, atmospheric effects and sensor artifacts.

The phrase cold orb is a report description, not an identification. Without calibrated radiometry it cannot establish that a physical object was colder than the background, and without range the four-foot size estimate remains conditional.

Assessment

Officially released, unresolved, and information-limited. The series is more useful than a context-free viral clip because it has provenance and companion reporting. Its evidentiary ceiling is nevertheless set by the decision to publish recordings of a screen. The correct next step is release of sanitized native data and geometry, not stronger conclusions from secondary pixels.
