A clip circulating as a fresh trail-camera UFO sighting has now been traced to the continuous May 1, 2026 edition of Swedish public broadcaster SVT’s Den stora älgvandringen. Several lights are visible above the tree line near the river. That trace establishes authenticity and corrects the circulating date. It does not identify the lights.

What the source trace establishes

The scene appears in SVT’s official 24-hour recording from the Näset camera near Kullberg and Junsele at about 02:20 local time. On-screen camera and broadcast identifiers in the repost match the source program, and the same moving lights appear in the broadcaster’s continuous archive. That makes digital insertion into the later repost unlikely.

The date attached to the viral copy was wrong. September 3 was the date of renewed circulation; May 1 was the recording date. Correcting that detail matters because weather, astronomy, aviation, and witness searches depend on accurate time and place.

The geometry is still missing

The public material does not include the native camera file, lens specifications, focus distance, infrared illumination pattern, depth information, or a second angle. Without range, small nearby insects or particles can resemble distant lights, especially when infrared illumination and compression reduce depth cues. Distant aircraft, satellites, or other sources also require time-matched testing.

The clip therefore cannot establish physical size or speed. Several points moving in the same frame may be multiple distant sources, multiple near-lens targets, or a mixture at different ranges.

Evidence that could narrow the case

  • The original file with timestamps and encoding metadata
  • Camera model, lens, focus, exposure, and infrared-light specifications
  • Uncompressed frames before and after the visible sequence
  • Weather, insect activity, aircraft, and satellite records for the exact interval
  • Footage from nearby cameras looking across the same airspace

Assessment

High confidence that SVT recorded the lights; low confidence on identity. “Authentic footage” means the broadcast contains the event. It does not mean the event is exotic. The accurate status is documented and unresolved.
